Guess the Riff! Ear training game.

Guess the Riff is a recurrent ear training game where we take famous riffs, disguise them and challenge you to identify them!

How Guess the Riff works

We launch new (video) episodes across our Instagram, Facebook and Youtube channels.

The Musical Challenge

In the video, you'll hear a famous riff (can be any genre, any instrument), but it's obfuscated - meaning it's hidden through various techniques like: slowed down, played in reverse, played on another instrument, no rhythm, usage of heavy effects, missing notes - any combination that makes it tricky, which of course you will not be told up front 😈.

Your job? Guess the Riff!

Two Rounds

  • Round 1: you will get a few hints to guide you to the answer.

  • Round 2 (few days after Round 1): you will get more hints and MAYBE, a less obfuscated audio with the riff.

  • Answer reveal (few days after Round 2): clean riff, reveal song and shoutout to the top correct guessers.

How to play

🎥Watch the Round 1 video on our social media (follow to get notified when we release a new episode).

Episode 1 Round 2 drops in the next few days with additional hints.

Bonus challenge

Think you can #PlayTheRiff once you've guessed it?

Record yourself playing it and post it in our Discord community as a challenge with the #PlayTheRiff tag. Show us your skills and inspire other musicians to join it!

Keep the game going

  • Follow us on Instagram, Facebook and Youtube for new episodes.

  • Share it with your friends - a healthy competition makes it fun 😜.

  • Comment even if you're not sure - take your chance. PLUS, creative wrong answers are half the fun.

Let's keep our ear training in shape! Good luck!
